A new community photo book

Your photographs.
The stories behind them.

The calendars are only the beginning. We’re also publishing a book bringing together selected photographs and the stories that give them meaning.

A place on the land. A family memory. A moment worth keeping. Tell us what your photograph means to you, so readers can see more than the image—they can hear the story behind it.

$50For each photo with its story selected for the book.

All photo-and-story submissions will be considered for the book, whether or not the photograph is chosen for a calendar. Our publishing team will select the contributions for publication. There is no fixed limit on the number of photos selected for the book. You may submit multiple photographs, and more than one photo per person can be selected. Each selected photo with its story receives a $50 honorarium. Submitting a photo and story does not guarantee publication or payment. Calendar selections retain the $200 monthly-photo and $300 cover-photo honorariums described above.

What catches your eye?

Show us the places and moments that matter.

Think across the whole year: winter light, spring growth, summer on the land and autumn colour. Choose photographs with a clear subject and a story to share.

Send your original, highest-resolution files. Landscape photographs are especially helpful for the calendar’s wide format. Leave room around your subject so the image can be fitted to the page.

How to share your photos.

01

Choose your images.

Select original photographs you took yourself. You may submit more than one photo; include a separate story for each. More than one photo per person can be selected. Attach the full-size files, or include a download link if the files are too large for email.

02

Tell us the story.

Include your name, community, contact information, the location and season, and the story behind each photograph. Tell us whether your images are for the children’s calendar, adult calendar or either. All photo-and-story submissions will also be considered for the community photo book. Our publishing team will choose the contributions for publication, with no fixed limit on the number selected.

Before you send.

What information should go with each photograph?

Your name and contact information, a photo title or filename, where and when it was taken, and the story behind the photograph. Include Tahltan names or words you know and would like to share; our team can follow up about spelling and context.

What if my photograph includes people?

Please make sure the people pictured are comfortable with you submitting the photograph for consideration. For children, speak with their parent or guardian. Publication permissions will be confirmed before photographs appear in the calendars or book.

What about cultural knowledge or sensitive places?

Share only images and information that are appropriate for public calendars and the photo book. If a photograph involves a ceremony, cultural practice, private location or knowledge that needs permission, tell our team before sharing it.

Do I need a professional camera?

A clear, high-resolution phone photograph may be suitable. Send the original image rather than a screenshot or a copy downloaded from social media, so our team can assess its print quality.

Can I submit more than one photograph?

Yes. You may submit multiple photographs, with a story for each. More than one photo per person can be selected. The book has no fixed limit on the total number of photographs selected, and each selected photo with its story receives $50.

Is the honorarium for every submission?

The $200 monthly-photo honorarium and $300 cover-photo honorarium apply to photographs selected for publication. There are 12 monthly photo selections and one cover selection in each calendar. For the community photo book, each photo with its story selected for publication receives $50, whether or not it is chosen for a calendar. There is no fixed limit on the number of book selections. Submission does not guarantee selection, publication or payment.
