Two ways to take part

Create a story. Build a connection.

Writing & storytelling

Start with a memory, an imagined adventure, or a question for a grandparent or Elder. The website’s activities help students turn spoken ideas into writing they can review and develop.

Youth & Elder volunteering

Spend time with Elders through approved practical help, visits and community activities. A coordinator arranges matches, orientation and tasks.

From spoken ideas to written stories

How the writing pathway works.

  1. Choose a starting point. Follow your teacher’s instructions, use a journal prompt, or begin with something you remember or imagine.
  2. Set the scene. Describe who is there, when and where it happens, and what is going on. Add a problem, surprise or question.
  3. Tell what happens next. Use the recording option where supported, or choose “Write instead.” Put your own ideas into a first draft.
  4. Review and revise. Read the words aloud, correct the transcript, add details and put events in a clear order. Rewrite on paper or work in a writing document.
  5. Share through your classroom. Use the classroom link supplied by your teacher to submit your draft and revised story. Your teacher guides the next steps.

Start with your teacher’s link.

The public pages let families explore the activities. Classroom participation uses a specific classroom link. The Tell Me Your Story preview does not send stories to a teacher; ask your teacher or the program team for the correct link.

The Stories Inside Me

Build a story from a memory, experience or imagined moment. Plan the scene, tell the story, then revise it into a piece of writing to share with your teacher.

Tell Me Your Story

Choose a journal question for a grandparent or Elder. Ask permission, listen without rushing, review the words together, and copy the approved story into your journal.

The storyteller’s choices come first.

Ask before recording. Elders decide what they wish to tell and whether it may be shared with a teacher. If permission changes, stop and speak with the teacher about another project. Review names, language and meaning together before carrying a story forward.

Story Warriors in the community

Help. Listen. Learn.

Volunteering begins with a request from an Elder, family member or caregiver. Young people register and attend orientation; the coordinator matches them with approved tasks. Time spent helping is verified and recognized.

Activities can include gardening, firewood stacking, technology help, companionship or sharing a meal. Parent or guardian consent for minors, safety guidance, scheduling and respect for privacy are part of the process.
